Overview
Joint Backer Rod is a closed-cell polyethylene foam rod used to set sealant depth and prevent three-sided adhesion in movement joints. This coil is 15mm diameter by 50 metres. AS 4667 joint design needs a bond-breaker at the back of the joint. The rod diameter should be about 25 percent larger than the joint width so it compresses and stays in place. Sealant depth is then controlled by the rod, not by how much the gunner can push in. Use with Construction PU Joint Sealant or Hybrid Facade Sealant. Do not use open-cell rod in wet joints unless the specification says so. Catalogue line. Diameter is confirmed against the joint schedule on the quote.
